BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA - JANUARY 19: Nathan Lyon of Australia celebrates taking the wicket of Shubman Gill of India during day five of the 4th Test Match in the series between Australia and India at The Gabba on January 19, 2021 in Brisbane, Australia.
India might've won the series 2-1 after an epic final day run chase at the Gabba, yet their celebrations didn't stop them from paying their respects to Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon.
Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane handed Lyon a jersey signed by the entire India team in honour of the veteran's 100th match.
The stand-in captain showed great respect for Lyon in what was a historic game for Australia's greatest ever off-spinner.
Lyon became just the 13th Australian to reach 100 Test appearances, however, the outing wasn't a successful one for the spinner.
Lyon failed to nab his 400th wicket in what was a less than fruitful series in which he took nine wickets at an average of 55.11.
Indian great VVS Laxman applauded the decision.
"Excellent gesture from @ajinkyarahane88and the Indian team to Felicitate Nathan Lyon on his 100th Test Match. One more example of Sportsman Spirt from Rahane. How dignified he is even after achieving such an incredible win.
Fellow legend Irfan Pathan wrote: "Being humble in your win is a sign of greatness. What a beautiful gesture by team India, giving a signed jersey to Nathan Lyon"
